The third Wednesday of every month a faithful band of Chapel members cooks and serves the evening meal at the Homeless Assistance Center in downtown Miami. Other Chapel members faithfully fund this ministry. Over 400 meals are served each time.
One crew cooks the meal from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. A second crew serves the meal from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
The Homeless Assistance Center is a pioneer public/private partnership that provides shelter, job training, and assistance in job searches for homeless individuals and families. Once people are employed the Homeless Assistance Center sets them up in highly subsidized housing for several months to aid in their transition back into economic independence. The Chapel is one of many churches, synagogues, and civic organizations that provides one dinner a month to the residents of the Homeless Assistance Center.
